The new commute

So here's the reason for this blog - I have a new job, in the big city, and I am spending 3 days a week there away from almost everything I hold dear. To assuage the feelings of despondency and strange-new-routineness, I've decided to write.

I won't pretend that it's not hard. That I haven't found it tough. Yes, I'm sounding like a wuss now. But I've had the pleasure of being dropped into working in London very suddenly, and very un-preparedly. I am into week 3 of my new routine, and much of it sucks ass. However, some of it doesn't, and it's that which is giving me the hope things will settle down a bit. So, to begin with a positive....

Smoking update
It's now officially 85 days and 3 hours (at time of writing) since I stopped smoking. How good is that? I've had my work contract terminated, a minor car incident, a major central heating incident, a couple of child-related domestic disasters, and yet I've managed to become a non-smoker.
